Lars Willumeit, curator (Switzerland)
Based in Zurych, is a German Curator and Social Anthropologist. He recently curated the exhibition Beyond Evidence - An incomplete Narratology of Photographic Truths for Format International Photography Festival together with Louise Clements and is the author of a dictionary for the German Pavilion at the 2015 edition of the Venice Biennale. In 2014 he worked on an extensive glossary for the photobook Deposit by Yann Mingard, curated the solo-show Occupied Pleasures by Tanya Habjouqa in Dubai and the group show For Future Reference in Amsterdam and Paris for the contemporary photography platform East Wing from Doha. In addition, Lars has been teaching courses on the History and Theory of Photography as well as on photo-editing at MAZ and ZHdK in Switzerland and acts as nominator, jury member and portfolio reviewer for numerous national and international photography competitions and festivals. From 2008-2013 he was the photo director of "DU - Die Zeitschrift der Kultur".
Lars is interested in both photojournalism and documentary as well non-documentary artistic strategies and traditions in photography. Always happy to give advice on book dummies and other forms of publication. He is not so interested in commercial and advertising portfolios, neither in decorative art photography.
